Arrival In Tulum
It was a long trip - but no complications. Once we landed in Cancun, we were glad to get out of it. Very touristy. The longer we drove, the more we liked it. About 170 km south, we arrived in Tulum. This is an interesting town - with one main tourist drag, followed by side streets that get more an more native. There are about 5 blocks on either side of the main drag - then Jungle - nothing else!
Our house was huge - we only used two of the bedrooms. Each bedroom had a fridge, and its own bath with shower (no hot water). Each upper room also had a balcony.
The town has a very rural feel to it, with LOTS of stray dogs and cats. The 'kept" dogs were often found living on the roofs!
We stayed three nights at this house. It had a full kitchen and was very comfortable. The price could not be beat (about 135 per night for the house).
The one draw back was the local bar next door "Freddy's". The music was loud and played late into the night. Most nights, we were so exhausted we did not care. At other times, we enjoyed the local sounds.
