Muyil Ruins

This is the beginning of our first tour with the Sian Kaan group. As with many places and things - it begins with a small place of worship. This was at the entrance of the Sian Kaan Bioshere where the Muyil Ruins are located. Many of the ruins of this site remain un-excavated
Our tour guide, Pastor, was fantastic. He seemed just as excited about things as we were - and he was very well informed. His father, and grandfather were both Mayan priests. He was our first real introduction to the Mayan people, who were much more numerous than we expected.

This was the Largest structure at Muyil, referred to as "the castle". Each of the sites (Muyil, Coba, and Tulum) has at least one "Castle".
